 Foreword

As mayor of the capital-city Salzburg it makes me happy that Chorus MM organizes the 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th International CANTUS MM Music & Culture Festival 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 in Salzburg. Orchestras, choirs and dance groups from all over the world meet thereby in our beautiful city, in order to sing and to make music. As particularly inspiring I feel the fact that culture benefit and solidarity go "hand in hand" at the CANTUS MM Music & Culture Festival. I wish a beautiful festival to the supervisors, the artists and their audience and look forward to a clear indication, which is indispensable for an alive culture and music city!

13th International Music & Culture Festival
"CANTUS MM"


June 30 - July 3, 2011, Salzburg - Austria

 

Day 1  

Evening: First meeting of the music directors and our organizational team including Rita Garlock, the Artistic Director of the Festival. Following a get-together ceremony - reception and official welcome of all participants.

 

 

Day 2

In the morning possibility for guided city tours or excursions. Early afternoon: set-up and rehearsals of all participating groups for the Cantus MM Gala Concert that will take place the same evening. Depending on the number of participating groups each music-group has the possibility of playing or singing max. of 15 min. repertory.

 

 

Day 3

In the morning: Ecumenical Celebration at Salzburg Cathedral, where each participating music group will present one piece of music as well as a short prayer in their own language.

In the afternoon: possibility of individual outdoor concerts in Mirabell-Gardens

In the evening: big "Finale" farewell party with dinner-buffet. The members of the society Chorus MM will take care of typical Austrian musical entertainment. All participating groups are invited to join with own pieces of music. Each group will be given a participation certificate, each participant will get a small give away.

 

 

Day 4

Time to say good-bye: travel back home or leave on a post tour to Vienna, Graz, Italy, Germany or Switzerland or wherever you like to go.

We will be pleased to arrange any additional services requested by you!

TERMS OF REGISTRATION

 

Registration fee

The registration fee is Euro 70,-- per person and must be paid for all participants (members of the chorus, orchestra, dance group, conductor, group leader and other attendants).                                  
 

Registration deadline

The deadline for registration is by latest 1st of March. Registration formulars received after this deadline can only be considered if festival capacity allows.

The registration must be accompanied by an advance payment of Euro 400,-- giro transferred to our bank account:

The advance payment will be credited on the final invoice. The minimal number of participants is 250 persons. Should fewer participants register, Chorus MM reserves the right to cancel the festival, in which case the advance payment will be returned in full.

Your reservation is binding upon receipt of your advance payment. You will receive confirmation within three weeks. In case of cancellation from your side, the advance payment will not be refunded.
Should the number of participants be reduced by more than ten percent, cancellation penalties for the missing persons will apply.

TERMS OF PAYMENT

 

  Inscription fee for the Festival Euro 70,-- per person including:

 
  • Organization of the Evening Gala-Concert

  • Common Festival Song (to be performed by all participants at the Gala-Concert) Music will be sent to you right in advance.

  • One Dinner Buffet with Musical Entertainment Program and one Snack Buffet;

  • Chorus MM Assistance

  • Participation Certificate for each group

  • Memory Present for each participant

 

 

Down payment

Upon receipt of our confirmation, 50% of the registration fees are to be paid within three weeks to our above mentioned account number

Payment of the balance

The balance is to be paid upon receipt of your final bill or, at the latest three weeks prior to your arrival. Changes after this deadline only in addition to cancellation penalties.

Not to forget mentioning their support in the detailed organisation of the Festival itself.

Our Tip: the detailed organisation of your trip will become easier and cheaper!

When booking your accommodation and the touristical services via our partner CC&A, a  Euro 20,-- reduction per person on the inscription fee for the Festival will be guaranteed.                      CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

 

1. Limit of participation:

10 choruses or orchestras of any age and composition (also dance groups). Based on the descriptions and recordings received, the participating groups will be selected from all applications by the artistic committee.
 

2. Registration:

Please send an actual photograph, a biography of the group and the Music Director, an actual recording made within the last year as well as suggestions for your program (with the scores).
Registration must be sent in latest by March 1st (date of postmark).
 

3. Program:

We request a secular program not longer than 15 minutes per group. Choruses may sing either a cappella or with accompaniment (please bring your own instruments). The music should be typical for your own country, and performance in folkloric costumes is appreciated. We will provide a grand piano for the Gala concert. Changes of program can only be done in agreement with the artistic director.
 

4. Compulsory Piece:

A compulsory piece will be made known by the artistic director. This piece will be performed by all the choruses and orchestras at the end of the Gala concert. Music will be sent to all participating groups in advance.
 

5. Gala Concert:

Friday afternoon set-up and rehearsal for each group. The exact schedule will be sent to you in advance by our artistic director.
Each group will perform a secular music program not extending the time limit of 15 minutes in our Gala concert on Friday evening.
The artistic director reserves the right to make changes in the program in cooperation with the music directors.
 

6. Ecumenical Celebration in Salzburg Cathedral:

Saturday morning - shared ecumenical service in Salzburg Cathedral, where each participating music group will present one sacred piece of music as well as a short prayer in their own language. Pieces to be selected through the artistic director.

7. Individual Performance Venues:

We organize for each group an outdoor concert in the Mirabel-Gardens or similar venues.  Kindly prepare music pieces of your choice for approx. 45 minutes.
